The most aromatic cargo

Five BSR countries crack the Top 10 of the world's biggest coffee drinkers, namely Finland (placed second with almost 1.85 cups per day per capita), Sweden (1.36), Denmark (1.24), Germany (1.23), and Poland (1.15).

As great as our region might be, it isn't however a mogul in coffee production, which, in turn, creates demand for ocean shipping from such sweet-smelling places like Brazil, Guatemala, and Cuba (or if you have a taste for nutty Robusta, also from Vietnam).

Most recently, Hapag-Lloyd reminded us of its over 100-year-rich tradition of coffee shipments.

We, as black-roasted beans addicts, depict with all devotion this honourable merit with a 1901 photo of the steamer Granada of Hamburg-Amerika Linie, arriving in Hamburg with 113,085 sacks with a value of more than ten million marks, the biggest to-Europe coffee shipment of that time!
