Port of Liepaja: 2.29 mln tn handled in I-IV 2017 (+20.8% yoy)

The Latvian port owes its most impressive turnover result to coal, which rose by 797% year-on-year within the reported period to 561.5 thou. tn. 

Timber handlings also went up to 253.4 thou. tn (+28.8% yoy), followed by construction materials noting 173.8 thou. tn (+1.5% yoy). Grains fell to 833.1 thou. tn (-16.2% yoy), and ro-ro cargo tonnage decreased as well – by 10.4% yoy to 171.2 thou. tn.

The number of passengers within the period of January-April this year shrunk to 8,421 (-13.7% yoy).
