OT Port Gdynia, one of OT Logistics' subsidiaries, has opened a PLN 5.0 mln worth warehouse for agricultural products in the Port of Gdynia.
The new 4,400 m2 big facility features 18 thou. tn of capacity (gross volume over 51,000 m3), and is situated at the Rumuńskie Quay which is able to accommodate Panamax ships.
Last year, OT's terminal in Gdynia handled a total of 3.3 mln tn (+32.5% year-on-year), out of which 1.4 mln tn were agro goods (+59.2% yoy).
"We are striving at increasing agricultural products' share in Polish seaports' overall handlings, hence becoming the leader in this segment across southern Baltic. Our latest warehouse investment will immediately enable us to serve our clients' needs even better than previously, as well as increase agro products' cut in OT Port Gdynia's total throughput, which until recently was dominated by general cargo. Moreover, we'll increase our bulk capacities in May thanks to deploying a fourth heavy-duty crane," Jerzy Majewski, Managing Director of the OT Port Gdynia, commented.
Zbugniew Nowik, OT Logistics' Chairman, added, "We see Gdynia as a vital support to the future agro hub we're setting up in Gdańsk. We are currently in the process of obtaining necessary environmental permits, and hope that will start to erect our deep-sea terminal in Gdańsk anytime soon."
