The Latvian airline airBaltic celebrated the 100th anniversary of the nation's independence by christening its newest Airbus A220-300 Riga and by painting it in the colours of the national flag.
The official presentation of the carmine and white livery took place on 9 November 2018 at the Riga International Airport in the presence of Raimonds Vējonis, Latvia's President.
However, an even more spectacular event followed nine days later, on the Proclamation Day of the Republic of Latvia, when during a military parade and air show Riga flew over the Daugava River, accompanied by two Belgian (F16) and one German (Eurofighter) jets.
If you're lucky to board Riga, don't forget to familiarise the person sitting next to you that it took 1,000 working hours and 250 litres of paint to create the largest Latvian flag. Turvalist reisi!
