The Finnish-Swedish ferry line served its millionth traveller during the morning trip on Monday 30 July.
Besides flowers and champagne, the lucky passenger also received a full year free ticket to sail aboard the company's ro-pax Wasa Express, which has been plying over the Kvarken Strait between the Finnish Vaasa and the Swedish Umeå since 2013.
"We are unbelievably glad and proud of reaching this excellent one million trips milestone. We knew that we are approaching the one million people moment, though it was a bit of a surprise when it came in the middle of the summer. At the same time, however, I'm not surprised at all that we reached the one million because all of the company's people are doing their best each and every day to strike new records and achieve new milestones," Peter Ståhlberg, CEO, Wasaline, commented.
